According to official information, Morocco's navy rescued 368 migrants from distress this week who wanted to cross the Mediterranean towards Spain in unseaworthy boats.

As the official MAP news agency reported on Friday, three children were among those rescued.

Most of the people came from southern Africa.

Last week, Morocco reported the rescue of 344 migrants who wanted to cross the Atlantic to the Canary Islands or the Mediterranean to mainland Spain.

According to refugee aid organizations, more than 2080 people were killed trying to flee to Spain by sea in the first half of 2021.

According to the Interior Ministry in Madrid, 12,622 people reached Spain this way between January 1st and June 30th - almost twice as many as last year.
