Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia attaches special importance to the development of the Arctic region, during the "Arctic Day" forum, which was held today in St. Petersburg.
"In our country, we pay special attention to the development of the northern regions," Putin said during the forum, according to a statement posted on the Kremlin's website, Sputnik, noting that the main objective of the forum is to discuss issues related to the development of the Arctic, the preservation of its natural resources and the implementation of large investment projects.
"I am sure that the Arctic region can be turned into an area of peace, cooperation and mutual trust," Putin added.
The “Arctic Day” forum was held today in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the initiative of the Russian state nuclear company “Rosatom”.
