Six million people living in the suburbs are still waiting for the first dose

of the Covid-19 vaccine, seven months after the start of vaccination in the province of Buenos Aires.

It is about

53.7% of the total population

of an area that includes 24 districts of the first and second cordon, the most populous, that were not even immunized once.

In addition, only 10.5% of the inhabitants of the Conurbano completed the two-dose vaccination schedule.

Exactly

5,284,169 people received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the districts that comprise the first and second cordon of Greater Buenos Aires and in which 11,410,537 people live

.

It is equivalent to 46.3% of the total, below the national figure, which reaches almost 51%.

The information comes from the Situation Room of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, with data until Thursday, July 22.

The percentages of the most populated area of the Province are also below those of the entire country in what has to do with the application of second doses.

Even though it is one of the lowest numbers in the entire region and in much of the world, and in a context of strong delays in applications,

13% of Argentines have already been fully immunized

.

In the

suburbs,

this number is lower, since

only 10.5% of its inhabitants were fully vaccinated

.

Exactly 1,200,135 people have already received the two doses.

As a closer example,

in the City of Buenos Aires 568,036 second doses were applied to a total population of 3,078,836 people

.

It represents

18.45% of the total

vaccinated completely.

In first doses, the administration of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta also shows better performances than that of Axel Kicillof in the Conurbano.

There were already 1,892,961, 61.5% of the Buenos Aires population.

Axel Kicillof and Carlos Bianco, in a conference in which they reviewed the epidemiological situation.

The situation, district by district

In the district-by-district comparison, only three exceed the 15% filter for second-dose applications of the total population:

Morón, Vicente López, and Avellaneda

.

In the case of the district governed by the ruling party

Lucas Ghi, 19.1% of the population has already been fully vaccinated

and 72.5% of Moronenses have received at least one dose.

In the municipality that Jorge Macri governs, from Together for Change, two doses were applied to 17.5% of the inhabitants and one to 72.3%.

In the one led by Alejo Chornobroff after Jorge Ferraresi's transfer to the Ministry of Territorial Development and Habitat, 16.8% were vaccinated with doses and 67.3% with at least one.

Among those with the

worst vaccination performance in these seven months are ten districts

, which applied the two doses to less than 10% of their respective populations and in no case exceed 50% of partially vaccinated inhabitants.

La Matanza, Merlo, Tigre and José C. Paz, all districts that respond to the Frente de Todos, oscillate between 7.3% and 7.8% of vaccinated

with two doses and are the ones with the lowest index in this regard.

La Matanza also immunized with a dose only 28.5% of its extensive population, some 664,591 people of the 2,327,874 who live there.

The argument put forward by the municipality governed by Fernando Espinoza is that half of the population of Matanzas is under 18 years of age, an age group that has not yet been included in the vaccination campaign.

Of those registered, they explain, "between 70% and 75% were vaccinated."

Lucas Ghi, mayor of Morón, where the highest percentages of first and second doses were achieved.

The

other districts that do not reach 10% of those vaccinated

with two doses are the San Miguel changemaker (8.5%) and the official Malvinas Argentinas (8.6%), Moreno (9%), Florencio Varela (9.2 %), Almirante Brown (9.3%) and Esteban Echeverría (9.6%).

Distresses

s over 10% of vaccinated

with the full plan, but below the national average, Quilmes (10.8%), Lomas de Zamora (11%), Ezeiza (12%) are located.

General San Martín (12.4%), Berazategui (12.8%) and San Fernando (12.9%), all from the Frente de Todos.

13%, in addition to the first three on the list, are surpassed by

other five suburban districts

: the ruling Ituzaingó (14%) and Hurlingham (15%), and Tres de Febrero (13.4%), San Isidro (14 %), Lanús (14.1%), three municipalities governed by Together for Change.

A drop in the second dose curve

The delay in the arrival of doses has been noticed in the last weeks of July in the suburbs, but also in the entire province of Buenos Aires.

At the provincial level,

from Sunday the 11th to Monday the 19th the application numbers were really low

, even lower than those of June.

Only 41,243 second doses

were applied

in those nine days, at a rate of 4,582 per day

.

On July 20 there was an exponential jump, with 130,536 applications of the second component, but in recent days that figure has stagnated again.

They were 54,284 and 17,447, respectively, the second doses that were given on the 21st and 22nd of this month.
