Cannonball Speeding|Kwun Tong taxi crashes down 15 meters on a hill, the driver was once trapped sober and sent to hospital

In a traffic accident in Kwun Tong, a taxi was suspected of failing its brakes while falling along Pik Wan Road. After losing control and hitting a safety island, it dashed down an open-air badminton court under a 15-meter hillside and turned over. The driver was once trapped by the fire department. After being rescued, he was sent to the hospital for treatment.

At approximately one o'clock in the morning today (25th), an unloaded taxi descended on Biyun Road and approached the junction of Gaochao Road. The driver discovered that the taxi’s braking system suddenly failed. The taxi lost control and hit the safety island on the road at high speed. After destroying two motorcycles and railings parked on the safety island, they rushed forward about 10 meters. After crossing a lane on Gaochao Road, they rushed to the pedestrian way and crashed into the railings. The "cannonball car" flew about 30 meters ahead. After rushing down an open-air badminton court off Gaoxiang Court about 15 meters away from the hillside, it turned sideways.

In the accident, the taxi driver was once trapped in the car and was rescued by firemen and sent to the hospital for treatment.

After the accident, the 70-year-old driver surnamed Su was once trapped in the car. A nearby resident found out and called the police.

The firefighter arrived at the scene and rescued the taxi driver from the car. He was injured in his chest and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment afterwards.

The taxi involved was severely damaged in the accident. The front of the taxi was hit and deformed, the windshield was broken, and one of the wheels flew off.

Two motorcycles on the safety island at the junction of Biyun Road and Gao Chao Road were crashed and about 12 meters of railings were damaged in the accident.

The fourth team of the Traffic Accident Investigation Team of the Transport Department of the Kowloon East Region is following up the investigation.

The taxi ran out of control and rammed into the safety island, during which it knocked down a motorcycle parked on the safety island.
