In retail, there is growing concern about a possible fourth corona wave.
Large retail chains such as Ikea or Aldi appeal to their customers.
Berlin - In view of the rapidly increasing incidence figures in Germany, the retail sector is appealing to the population to get vaccinated against Corona.
"Only with an effective and quick vaccination campaign can we sustainably push back the pandemic and regain more normality, even when shopping," said the managing director of the German Retail Association (HDE), Stefan Genth, on Thursday in Berlin.
Corona concerns in trade: Vaccination call follows
The HDE's appeal was supported by representatives of well-known German retail groups such as the Rewe Group, the Schwarz Group (Lidl *, Kaufland), the Edeka headquarters, Aldi *, Otto, Douglas, Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof and Ikea. With the end of the lockdown, the shops in the city centers had filled up again. But nationwide the incidences had recently risen again. Dealers are seeing this with growing concern.
The task now is to convince as many people as possible of the need for a vaccination, said Genth. The board of directors and the presidium of the HDE emphasized that with a vaccination each individual could make an important contribution to overcoming the pandemic. This applies to customers and employees. The danger of a fourth wave of infections is still not averted. "We have to use this summer to better position ourselves against the pandemic," said Genth. “Now it's time to vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate”.
