The former Southern District Councillor Yuan Jiawei, who has just completed his sentence in the June 4th case and regained his status in the primary election case, posted a post on his Facebook page today (24th) stating that after Yuan Jiawei returned to his original remand cell, a familiar prisoner embraced Yuan Jiawei. In order to welcome his return, he was accused of "being in physical contact with other prisoners," and was punished for 10 days in solitary confinement (i.e., water and dining room).
The Correctional Services Department stated in response to "Hong Kong 01" enquiries that it would not comment on individual cases.

The post stated that Yuan Jiawei asked the correctional officers to point out which provisions of the "Prison Rules" prohibit persons in custody from having physical contact. The correctional officers said that they would add to her later, but that they have not yet given an explanation. Wei said that "the number of fines has been reduced," because the staff said that the number of punishment days should be calculated based on the number of people.
The post stated that Yuan Jiawei must be kept in isolation until the end of this month. During this period, all benefits were deprived, including not being able to "eat private food," not receiving letters, not receiving newspapers, and even not being able to read books.
The Correctional Services Department stated that it does not comment on individual cases. It also pointed out that if any person in custody commits a disciplinary violation, the institution management will take disciplinary prosecution and impose appropriate punishment in accordance with the law, and will not tolerate it.
If a person in custody is dissatisfied with the judgment of the disciplinary hearing, he can appeal according to the established mechanism.
