The voices of some 70 poets from the Mediterranean, surrounded by storytellers, musicians and actors, will resound in the streets of Sète (Hérault) until July 31 on the occasion of the international poetry festival organized in the port of southern France. .
Voix Vives invites the public to “
get to know contemporary Mediterranean poetry better
”, to “
take hold of a poetic and literary imagination attached to a geography, to territories
” in a spirit of discovery and sharing of Mediterranean cultures, underlined its director Maïthe Vallès-Bled.

During one week, the festival will invest 25 places of "
the singular island
", which saw the birth of the writer Paul Valéry and the musician Georges Brassens. It will offer more than 600 events throughout the day, including concerts and musical readings, boat readings "along
the water
", writing workshops and poetic encounters, particularly in the language of the signs, meetings with poetry publishers, street entertainment and taverns. On Saturday July 24, the actress Brigitte Fossey will create a tribute to Paul Valéry for the festival.
Among the poets present for the 2021 edition are Raed Wahesh (Palestine), Valeriu Stancu (Romania), Amina Saïd (Tunisia), Venus Khoury-Ghata (Lebanon) and the French poet performer Patrick Dubost.
In 2019, some 71,000 spectators took part in the festival.
In 2020, in a context of health restrictions due to the new coronavirus crisis, more than 56,000 people attended
