On the red dot day for Sardinia, the front of the fire that broke out in the afternoon on the Montiferru, in the Oristano area, came dangerously close to the homes of Santu Lussurgiu.
Some houses have already been evacuated as a precaution, while other citizens are leaving them independently.
The area is covered in a blanket of unbreathable smoke.
For several hours the Forestry Corps, the Civil Protection, the firefighters and the volunteers with numerous teams on the ground have been trying to stem the fire that initially developed between the countryside between Bonarcado and Santu Lussurgiu, and then spread quickly pushed by the wind and from high temperatures. Four helicopters from the regional fleet are currently operating, alongside the Super Puma, the fire brigade aircraft and four Canadair who are throwing water bombs on the area, trying to prevent the fire from reaching the houses.
Some houses were also evacuated in Cabras, also in the Oristano area, also in this case the air vehicles of the regional fleet had to intervene.
Some houses have been blackened by the fire.
Fire also in Arzana where the flames are licking a pine forest and the ground crews and a helicopter of the regional fleet are trying to stem them.
