The football club 1860 Munich wants to get its own brass band.

The project is to be managed by a conductor from Schöngeising.

But before the march is blown for the lions, there is still a lot to do for him.

Schöngeising

- The traditional association comprises several subdivisions.

The music division should actually be added to the football departments, whose best team plays in the third division.

Anton Hörger is to take over the brass band.

He is no stranger to the district.

The 27-year-old lives in Schöngeising and is the conductor of the Allingen brass band.

“I've been a lion fan since I can remember,” says Anton “Toni” Hörger.

At the age of five he chose music as his hobby.

“My heart beats for 1860 and for music.

What could be nicer than conducting such a band? "

The idea of a separate brass band for the lions was born in the “Unternehmer für 60” (Uf60) support association.

There, too, a man from the Bruck region plays a decisive role: Josef Wieser from Mammendorf is chairman of Uf60.

Group with lions background

The friends' association was looking for a group of musicians with a lion background via Facebook and Instagram.

The entrepreneurs need the marching band in autumn.

Then they want to collect donations at an event for the renovation of the young talent center from 1860.

"After the call, three complete music groups and many, many individual musicians registered," Wieser reported.

Why do we assign the music division to the football department of all things?

There are historical reasons for this.

Decades ago there was a group of singers and house music, said Toni Hörger.

"At that time they contributed to the musical framework of the club life."

Before the new brass band appears for the first time, Hörger, as head of the 1860 music division, has to form a band from the many individual applications.

He will invite all applicants to do this.

The core of the group should consist of ten musicians and take over the majority of the performances.

Depending on the event, the chapel can be expanded to include 35 musicians.

Later it must be clarified how often and where can be practiced.

The marching band also needs a uniform outfit - with the typical lion on the jacket, of course.

"I am absolutely in good spirits that we will put together a great marching band," said Hörger happily.

The hymns

In addition to traditional Bavarian and Alpine brass and folk music, the band's musical repertoire will of course include all known 1860 fan hymns, such as the Sechzger March.

The die-hard Sechzerg fans in the district have different opinions about the Lion Brass Band project.

“I don't think so,” says Josef “Bebs” Michl from Emmering.

“60 is 90 percent a football club.

Brass bands are supposed to play at folk festivals.

They are in good hands there. ”Franz Schrodi from Groebenzell takes a relaxed view of the matter.

“I don't really care.

If the musicians enjoy it, they should do it. "

And Stephan Böck from Aufkirchen ventures a not very serious forecast for the future for 1860: Maybe the brass band will be needed if the ascent will work out next year.

Then you can play it on Marienplatz. "
