The topping-out ceremony for the new fire station on Flurstrasse in Bruck took place without a carpenter.

The craftsman had canceled at short notice.

That fits a bit with the bumpy history - but not with the state of the building, which is proceeding according to plan despite problems in the construction industry.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- The order books are full, but the material stores are often empty.

And so there is currently a lot going on in the construction industry.

On Friday the carpenter who was supposed to give the topping-out speech for the shell of the new fire station in Bruck was missing.

However, the topping-out ceremony did not have to do without a topping-out ceremony.

Architect Gerhard Mica stepped in and hastily wrote a little poem that he read - albeit without the obligatory wine glass.

Debate about necessity

It all fitted in a little with the history of the building, which fire department officer Andreas Lohde also recalled in rhyme form.

For example, to the debate about the necessity of the new building and whether the Emmeringen colleagues might not be able to supply the area of operation after the air base defense has withdrawn.

In memory of the then mayor of the neighboring community, Lohde wrote poetry from "Schanderl und seine Feuerwehrmanderl".

After the costs had been readjusted, one could now be proud of the great building, said Lohde.

Eight apartments

Fire department commander Michael Ott reported how savings were made.

Some rooms, for example for training courses, and a fifth parking space for a fire engine were dispensed with.

The commander is happy about the eight apartments - four more than originally planned - that are being built on the upper floor of the house.

It can accommodate firefighters who, according to Ott, are suffering from the housing shortage in the Munich area.

“Some of the firefighters are moving away,” he says.

The rooms in the fire station are therefore a good sign.

In addition, Ott hopes that he can now recruit new emergency services from the area: "Maybe one or the other will come to us now, for whom the way to the fire station on Landsberger Strasse was too far."

Within budget

Mayor Erich Raff was able to report that so far, both the time and budget of 6.9 million euros have been achieved.

Completion is planned for the coming year.

According to the architect Mica, around 90 percent of the work has already been awarded.

In view of the rising costs in the construction sector, this is good for the city, as the companies are bound by their offers.

Some craftsmen, on the other hand, have a problem: “Building material prices are exploding, which is causing a certain degree of dissatisfaction among companies,” says the architect.

The timber construction company, which, according to Mica, had stocked up on material in January and February, and thus before the price increases, was lucky.
