BLLV district chairwoman Iris Gotzig emphasized that teachers at elementary and middle schools would be in great demand even without the additional challenges posed by the pandemic.
Every school needs a specialist for youth and social work.
The teacher shortage
Teachers are very concerned about the shortage of teachers, which is particularly noticeable in secondary schools.
According to employee representative Walter Braun, himself the headmaster of a middle school, it is necessary to make the job more attractive.
Also with regard to the starting salary, added Anita Müller, 2nd chairwoman of the district association.
Miskowitsch, who attended a middle school himself during his school career, sees the “reputation of the middle school as a problem”.
That has to come from the mind.
Christian Franke, 3rd BLLV district chairman and chairman of the staff council, criticized the fact that secondary qualifications and an annually increasing number of primary school teachers are used in secondary schools. Likewise, the use of third-party workers and team teachers can only be a "temporary emergency measure", said Gotzig.
The BLLV demands that the digitization of schools be advanced professionally. It's not just about the provision of devices, but also about setting up and adapting them to school concepts and using them in the classroom. The commitment of the system administrators must be rewarded more, and external partners are also needed. "Teachers should work on the child and not set up software," said Mayor Hans Seidl. It was agreed that media education had to take up more space in the past. Even if the curriculum has to be streamlined for this.
