Manila-Sana
The Philippine authorities evacuated thousands of people from the capital, Manila, today, due to the floods caused by the torrential rains.
"14,023 people, mostly from a flood-prone suburb of Manila, have been moved to temporary evacuation centers," Reuters quoted the Philippine Disaster Management Agency as saying, while warnings were issued to stay alert and take precautionary measures in anticipation of more floods.
The Philippines, home to more than 7,600 islands, experiences about 20 tropical storms annually.
It is noteworthy that severe weather has swept several regions of the world in recent weeks, which led to floods in China, India and Western Europe and heat waves in North America, which raised new concerns about the impact of climate change.
