Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced today the return to the quarantine system that was imposed in the states most affected by the spread of the Corona pandemic.

This came according to the Algerian News Agency, in a statement issued after a cabinet session chaired by President Tebboune, in which he announced directives, including “the return to the quarantine system, starting from eight in the evening until six in the morning in the most affected states and the need to double media sensitization operations on the widest scale to raise the rate of national vaccination.” Especially in the states with large population density, being the first source of infection, completing the process of vaccinating departmental employees nationally and locally, and raising the level of preventive strictness to the highest levels, especially in closed commercial spaces, which is the first source of infection.”

The first ban imposed by Algeria across the country to contain the Corona pandemic was on March 25, 2020, followed by a series of partial bans in several regions and states.

Today, the Algerian Ministry of Health recorded 21 deaths and 1,287 new infections with the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total infections to 162,155 and the total deaths to 4,063, while yesterday it recorded 16 deaths and 1,305 injuries.
