The Suwayda Fire Brigade, in cooperation with the crews of the Civil Defense and Agriculture Directorates, put out today a large fire that affected fruit trees and forests between the towns of Salim and Qanawat.
The commander of the As-Suwayda Fire Brigade, Fadi Al-Daoud, told SANA reporter that the fire broke out in an area planted with olive, fig, almond and grape trees, in which oak and butt trees are spread, and spread over an area ranging between 30 and 40 dunums, and caused damage to fruitful and forest trees before it was controlled with the support of the people.
He pointed out that the process of extinguishing the fire took about two hours in an area of a rugged and difficult nature, in conjunction with high temperatures, gusts of wind and a thick spread of dry weeds, which helped spread the fire before it could be encircled and extinguished, and the necessary cooling operations were carried out to prevent its renewal.
Yesterday, the firefighting teams, in cooperation with the residents, put out a large fire that affected about 100 dunums within agricultural orchards in which fruit trees and forests are spread in an area close to this fire between the towns of Saleem and Qanawat.
