Thunder rumbling, rain showers - no reason to move the farewell service for Georg Böckl-Bichler from the Volksfestplatz to the parish church of St Peter and Paul.
Especially not for the clergy: "Anyone who celebrates with the Böckl-Bichler open-air church service must expect rain."
Olching - It was an indication that this had already happened twice this year. "But it still all turned out fine," he added quickly. Even the estimated 300 believers had not let the uncertain weather conditions stop them from attending the service. Ultimately, they were able to rely on both the good relationship with Petrus and the weather app from Pastor Josef Steindlmüller: "It tells me that we will still get sunshine."
So the post-prime came to a dry end for Böckl-Bichler. At the same time it was a worthy end to his two years in Olching and Esting. The term post-prime is understood to mean the first service that a priest celebrates after his ordination at his previous place of work. Böckl-Bichler will take over a position as a chaplain in Wasserburg from September. Before that, he will step in as a vacation replacement in Olching for the next two weeks.
For Pastor Steindlmüller this was also an occasion to emphasize Böckl-Bichler's commitment. In the two years or so in Olching, he worked sustainably and with skill and sensitivity for the people. Pastor Steindlmüller highlighted two talents of the departing clergyman: the linguistic talent in the sermons and the musical enthusiasm for the musical combo of the altar boys. "Thank God for your good manner," thanked Steindlmüller.
In his sermon, Böckl-Bichler reported about the curiosity about the new place and the people he felt when he took office in the Olching-Esting parish in 2019.
“Over time, I have experienced a wide range of Christian activities,” said Böckl-Bichler, returning the appreciative words.
Above all, he valued when he met Christ in a very close way on personal occasions such as baptisms or funerals.
