The pandemic has hit the retail sector badly - and demanded a lot from many employees.

Geretsrieder shops now want to reward their employees and thus help the trade.

Geretsried - Bricks-and-mortar retail is finding it increasingly difficult to compete with the overwhelming power of the Internet.

The corona pandemic has exacerbated the problem.

Together with dealers and industry, the city of Geretsried would like to support local traders: with the voucher campaign “Companies help companies”.

Gift vouchers are intended to boost trade

The principle is easy to explain: the companies buy vouchers worth five euros each from the ProCit retail association.

They distribute these to their employees - and they in turn can redeem them in all participating shops in Geretsried and thus support them.

1600 vouchers have already been ordered.

"This is a nice action," said Bernd Schalk, Managing Director of Pulcra Chemicals, when handing over the first vouchers to his company on Wednesday.

This creates an incentive to support local trade.

At the same time, it is a recognition for the employees.

We are sending out a signal for trade and solidarity on site.

Michael Müller Mayor

Mayor Michael Müller praised the idea of ProCit and the industrial community Geretsried (IGG): "We are setting an example for trade and solidarity on site." He recalled the many difficulties retailers had to struggle with during the Corona lockdown.

The city is also appealing to city workers with the campaign: “Don't just order online - go to local shops!” “Firms help companies” is “an action from the city for the city,” said the town hall chief .

Employees, shops and the city: everyone should benefit

Pulcra boss Schalk was delighted with the 400 vouchers that he can distribute to 200 employees in Geretsried.

He emphasized the solidarity idea of the campaign, which unites the participating restaurants, fashion stores and specialist retailers: “We are all in the same boat.

This campaign helps people, it helps the shops and the city - everyone benefits from it in the end. "

The logos of the previous participants are printed on the vouchers in foldable credit card format - and a QR code with which the current participant lists can be called up online. The initiators hope that there will be more business with the city's economic developer, Rebecca Geisler. She emphasized: “We are doing this because it is important to us to support local companies.”
