Almost 50 people from Groebenzell came to the multi-purpose hall in the leisure area.

Around half were exclusively citizens and not active in parties or associations.

But: The few citizens had many questions.

The choir is still practicing in the meadow

Including the chairwoman of the women's choir, Alice Trapp.

She wanted to know whether the community would subsidize the purchase of air filters for the choirs.

Due to Corona, choirs are currently only allowed to rehearse with large intervals.

And this is not possible in the previous rehearsal room in the old school for the 30 singers of the women's choir and 45 singers of the Gröbentöne.

Only 18 are allowed.

The women's choir, which always rehearses on Thursdays, usually finds a room, but has to search anew every week.

The coarse tones usually rehearse on a meadow near the high school.

When it rains, the members flee under the bicycle racks.

The idea of Trapps and the chairman of Gröbentöne, Ursula Peukert, was to buy air filters in order to be able to use the old school room.

But Schäfer couldn't promise whether the room would actually be usable for the choirs.

“That has to be checked individually,” added his responsible employee in the town hall, Anja Metz.

Schäfer promised to inquire.

Trapp dealt with another topic, this time as a resident: the use of the hall on the property in Weidegrund 1a.

Schäfer bought the hall with a partner.

Trapp found out firsthand that craft businesses and cultural workers should move in, an open stage, an exhibition room, a café, a restaurant and, in the second part, a car repair shop.

“It will be tough for us,” complained Trapp, who fears noise and increasing traffic.

City hall chief Schäfer explained that the entrance to the area had been moved away from the residential area.

He also asked himself: "If you can't even do something like this in the industrial park, where then?"

More and more areas are being sealed

Another woman from Groebenzell complained about the increasing sealing in the community.

However, building authority manager Markus Groß was able to list various measures that the municipality has already initiated against it.

On the one hand, a de-sealing program, but also the numerous development plans regulated where the land had to be greened.

In addition, the municipal council has just launched an open space design statute.

RVs on the streets

Motorhomes parked on the streets were also complained of.

The city hall employee in Metz was unable to offer any remedy.

“Unfortunately we cannot do anything legally,” she reported.

Like any registered car, the motorhomes are allowed to park on the side of the road.

At most if the TÜV has expired.

one could intervene.

However, caravans that are parked without a tractor are only allowed to stay in one place for 14 days.
