Major General Salami: America is trying to ignite an internal war in Afghanistan

The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami, confirmed that America is trying to ignite an internal war in Afghanistan.

And the Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted Major General Salami as saying in a statement today that “America, after 20 years of its interference in the affairs of Afghanistan, is seeking, through causing a new sedition, to ignite a civil war in this country.”

Afghanistan is witnessing deteriorating security conditions and fierce battles between government forces and Taliban militants, while US and NATO forces continue to withdraw from this country two decades after its invasion under the pretext of combating terrorism.

On the other hand, Major General Salami made it clear that the Americans committed a huge number of massacres in Iraq after they set foot on its land, wondering if the occupation left results other than suffering and bloody conflicts.

Senior officials in the US and Iraqi governments announced on the 22nd of this month their intention to issue a joint statement stipulating the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq by the end of 2021.

The Iraqi parliament voted last year by an absolute majority on a resolution obligating the Iraqi government to end foreign presence in the country after the American crimes on Iraqi soil.

Major General Salami also referred to the massacres committed by the Saudi-American aggression against the oppressed and resistant Yemeni people, pointing out that the Saudi regime continues its aggression against the Yemeni people, leaving tens of thousands of victims and massive damage to the infrastructure in Yemen.
