A 49-year-old man died on Saturday after being beaten up in the street in broad daylight in the Rennes metropolitan area for an unknown reason, the prosecution said on Sunday.

"acts of violence resulting in death"
took place in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande on Wednesday July 21 around 1:00 p.m., said Rennes prosecutor Philippe Astruc, confirming information from the regional daily
Ouest-France
.
"The victim who was born in 1972 in Rennes died on Saturday,"
he added.
"The motive for the altercation is not yet established."
An autopsy should take place Monday and the investigation was entrusted to the police of the departmental security of Rennes.
