The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission confirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities continue their crimes against Palestinian prisoners, foremost of which is deliberate medical negligence, in clear violation of human rights and all international conventions and covenants.
Ma'an News Agency quoted the commission as saying in a statement today that the sick prisoners are suffering from difficult conditions that threaten their lives in light of the occupation's refusal to provide them with the necessary treatment, especially the wounded prisoner Abdel Rahman Burqan, who suffers from the effects of being shot by the occupation in both his feet and stomach during his arrest in the city of Hebron. He can stand and suffers from kidney problems and needs several surgeries.
The statement pointed out that the prisoner, Muhammad Musleh, has a complete paralysis in the middle of the face that prevents him from closing his eyes and did not provide him with any treatment, while the prisoner Nazem Abu Salim suffers from severe weakness of the heart muscle and is in dire need of an operation and a pacemaker.
About 5,300 Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails face harsh detention conditions, including about 550 prisoners who need urgent medical intervention.
