The district's special vaccination campaign for twelve to 16-year-olds was very well received.

Motto: test less, more holidays.

Freising

- The children want to be protected and finally experience normality again in everyday life - especially at school.

Although the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) is currently only making an explicit vaccination recommendation for children with previous illnesses, the Freising district has now nailed it and set up a special vaccination campaign at the weekend.

480 young people between the ages of 12 and 16 have made an appointment.

Great uncertainty among the population

The mood was good and calm, the timing of the individual vaccinations was well planned as usual.

BRK district chief Albert Söhl was satisfied: "It has been very well received, only very few have canceled," emphasized Söhl.

Unfortunately, there is a great deal of uncertainty among the population: Stiko does not explicitly recommend vaccination in this age group, but it does not speak out against it either.

The information on the effects and possible side effects of the mRNA vaccine from Biontech were sent to the legal guardians in advance, and on-site medical advice was given longer than for the adults.

But what Söhl is much more concerned with is the question: "How will things go with the vaccination center in Freising?" The contracts with the staff only ran until the end of September - what will happen after that is completely in the stars.

According to Söhl, there are definitely possibilities and ultimately also a need.

In his opinion, the retirement homes could be vaccinated a third time, but a mobile vaccination team would also be conceivable.

What annoys Söhl: The decision is being postponed by the government, although the time is slowly becoming very tight in order to be able to continue planning sensibly.

Jeremy (14, junior high school student, Au): “This is my very personal decision today.

First of all, I am largely safe from infection and the constant testing is gone.

As a THW member, I also show consideration for my comrades.

I'm not afraid of side effects.

Any vaccination will come with a disadvantage.

I am now looking forward to a safe vacation in Germany with my parents.

Elina (14, Freising, student at JoHo) with her mother Alexandra Hakelberg: “I especially want to protect myself from being infected at school.

We have been waiting for this action.

I feel a lot safer now.

Now maybe all the testing will be eliminated and the holidays have become a little safer. "

Angelina Decker (14, secondary school student, Tüntenhausen): “We discussed the vaccination extensively in the family and came to the decision to take advantage of this vaccination campaign immediately.

Due to a previous illness in the family, I am now also contributing to more security.

I am also not afraid of possible long-term effects.

We will only be able to end the pandemic if everyone gets vaccinated. "

In any case, the specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine, Bernd Steinkirchner from Neufahrn, had planned well.

He, too, was delighted with the special campaign and very much welcomed the fact that there was now a vaccination offer for twelve to 16 year olds: "This has long been done in other countries," emphasized Steinkirchner.

The Stiko recommendation is vague and basically incomprehensible, because: "If I can vaccinate a child with previous illnesses, then I can really vaccinate a healthy child!"

The doctor doesn't believe in compulsory vaccinations

In his opinion, long-term consequences are not to be expected, but the doctor does not believe in compulsory vaccinations.

“Better to clarify objectively.” He was not asked any specific questions, the young people and legal guardians were actually just happy that things were finally going on.

How important the parents are as role models becomes clear here too - because almost only young people came whose parents had already been vaccinated.

In three to six weeks there will be the second prick.

Young people with a high allergic risk can also switch to Moderna.
