The Task Force of the Enforcement and Control Section of the Traffic Department of the New Territories South Region combated drug driving and drunk driving in the early morning hours for two consecutive days (July 24 to 25).
At 7 am today (25th), during a patrol in Tsuen Wan, the police used the automatic license plate recognition system to detect that a Pingzhi private car’s license expired for nearly a year. However, the Pingzhi driver drove away at high speed and the police officers immediately launched a chase. Successfully intercepted the Pingzhi vehicle with a China-Hong Kong license at the junction of Texaco Road and Yeung Uk Road.
The 37-year-old male driver suspected of attacking the police with his hands and was eventually subdued by the police along with the 47 male passenger.

The driver tested positive after a quick oral fluid test. Arrested; another 47-year-old man in the car was arrested on suspicion of "allowing others to drive unlicensed vehicles" and "allowing others to drive without third party insurance."
In addition, when officers intercepted and searched a van, it was discovered that its driving permit had expired. The 37-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of "driving an unlicensed vehicle" and "driving without third party insurance."
Officers also found a 38-year-old male driver wanted for failing to pay a fine and arrested him.
The police appeal to motorists that driving under the influence of alcohol and drug driving are serious crimes. Once convicted, they will not only be fined but also sentenced to imprisonment. The public should not try the law.
