On Monday, August 3, 2020, in the morning hours, G., a woman in her 50s, waited intently at her home on Mount Adar in the Jerusalem mountains for her partner of the past 13 years, Kobi Strug, after agreeing to expose the romantic relationship to Strug's family And for their desire to live a life together openly.

That morning, Strug called her and said he intended to visit her at her home "to breathe her in, to have the strength to make the transition" planned for that day.

Upon arriving at the apartment, the two sat down for coffee on the balcony of the apartment, then at his request she moved to sit on a chair in the dining area, closing her eyes to receive the gift he had brought her "to relieve the stress" of the expected move.

Then, without any notice or warning, he began to brutally hit her on the head with an object while wearing gloves to bring her to her death.

He left the place after believing she was lifeless.

As a result of the beatings, according to the indictment, she fell to the floor, but Strug continued to hit her on the head and neck with great force, despite her pleas, causing her to bleed massively from the skull, ear and nape. "The faster you collapse, the faster it will end," he slammed into her during the attack. At one point, after thinking he had managed to bring her to her death, Strugg began to leave the apartment, but when he noticed that C was still alive he said to her, "What, you are not dead?" - and went back to beating her.

After he finished beating her, he locked the apartment, left the place while trying to obscure his tracks by traveling by train to the city of Modi'in, and from there in a taxi to work, where he continued with his daily routine.

Meanwhile, with her last strength, G. managed to get out and open the porch door, and called the neighbor for help. It called rescue forces who evacuated her for further treatment at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. She was hospitalized there for two weeks, when as part of her rehabilitation treatments she needed about 60 stitches in her head,20 stitches in the back of the neck and 6 stitches in the ear.

Police forces who were called to the scene initially thought that the background to her serious injury was suicidal, but after a few hours it became clear that it was an attempted murder and arrested the suspect spouse.

Only a few days ago, about a year after the horrific attempted murder, the name of the attacker was allowed to be published: Kobi Strog, 52, a resident of Givatayim, married and the father of a girl and until recently running a staffing company.

Strog's name was known to the public before, after he lost his son, Shahar Strog.

In a disaster that occurred in March 2018, Strugg was killed as a result of a bullet fired at him by a member of Unit N., who was convicted of murder and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Since his arrest in August last year, and the indictment against him for attempted murder and obstruction of justice, Strugg himself has been detained until the end of the legal proceedings against him.

During his detention, he worked, through his lawyer Avi Chimi, to reach a plea agreement with the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office and ease his expected sentence - a move that has so far been halted, partly due to the determined position of Adv. Zohar Giat, who conducts the trial on behalf of the Jerusalem District Attorney The apostasy in the indictment on the part of Strugg, which led to the failure of the mediation procedure.

The name was banned from publication.

"I closed my eyes, I suddenly felt a blow to the head"

In a first interview with Walla! C. candidly described the chain of events, the difficulties she is facing today, and the relationship with Strugg until the day she was attacked by him. "My relationship with him was a collaborative relationship that developed into an intimate-family couple relationship," she said. "He regularly visited my family as a spouse. We planned to start a family together and also tried for a year and a half to have a child together. We had big dreams of a common future."

"That day there was great excitement for both of us, because that day he was supposed to move in with me and leave his house," C. testifies about the day, which was supposed to be happy and exciting. "As usual, he called at 7:45 in the morning and asked 'how was the night', and I told him that I did not sleep with excitement from the day that came, that we had been waiting for years, and that I was preparing the house for him. That's how he came in the evening, and it's a shame to drive twice all the way. He said it's not a shame and that he must see me, because I give him strength and air to breathe. I told him to do what he wants. He said he has not yet decided and see what happens. He knew I did not like surprises. "

"An hour later he sent me a picture of him on WhatsApp, and of course I replied that he was perfect and he did not respond. An hour later he surprised me at home. I asked why he did not inform me, and he said he wanted to surprise me," she continued.

He asked for a meter to measure the size of a closet we wanted to buy, measured and recorded.

Then I made coffee and we sat in the yard.

"After the coffee, he told me that he knew how excited I was about his move to me and that he had bought me a present and asked us to enter the house."

"When I managed to open my eyes, I saw him standing over me with gloves and something black in his hand."

Soon after, G.'s nightmare began. "We went in, I was sitting in the living room. He said I should sit in the dining area. I went to the dining area and he said it was not good, and turned the chair [so] that the back of the chair would be on the side and not behind the head, and asked me to close my eyes," she says. "I closed my eyes and he kept telling me: Do not open, do not open. It took at least a minute and a half, and I was sure the surprise was a closet he bought or he put his clothes in. Suddenly I felt a blow to the head and thought it was an earthquake or the ceiling fell on me. His name and I fell to the floor. "

Only later did she find out what the source of the blow really was. "When I managed to open my eyes, I saw him standing over me with gloves and something black in his hand. He kept beating me. As I lay covered in blood, he said, 'The faster you die, the faster it will end,' and he continued to hit my head with the device he had in his hand. He thought I was dead, took my cell phone, locked me in the house with my keys - and drove in my car. "

"I have no idea after a few hours I woke up. I crawled to the door, saw she had no key and no phone. Luckily, I have a window in the living room that is like a wall, it is an electric shutter. I pressed, the shutter went up, the window was already open." I crawled towards the exit of my balcony and my neighbor, whose door was open, saw me and immediately called neighbors, and they called MDA and police.

"One of the most brutal cases of abuse and attempted murder of a spouse."

Adv. Ariel Atari (Photo: Walla !, official website)

G. said she has been suffering from multiple health and mental difficulties since the attack.

"Today my mental state is extremely difficult. I suffer from severe post-trauma. The shocking experience comes back to me again and again," she said, noting that she suffers from stable walking problems, severe headaches, and severe hearing loss.

"Part of my ear was torn from the blows and it is impossible to recover. I am unable to function on a daily basis," she explained.

She further accused Strog of using his personal story cynically, as a legal argument.

"He is ugly trying to exploit his son's death. There is no connection between the things. Our relationship lasted 12 years and not from the day his son died. I am sorry for his son that he is so cynically exploiting his death."

Strugg's defense attorney: "Huge gap between the indictment and reality"

Advocate Ariel Atari, representing G., said that "this is one of the most cruel cases of abuse and attempted murder of a spouse that came before Israeli courts." Both mentally and physically. The attempt to use the son's memory is a cynical and foolish attempt. We are convinced that the court will impose the maximum sentence on the defendant: both for the cruel act and for its extreme consequences. "The

defendant's defense attorney, Adv. "I have no intention of conducting my client's trial in the media, and I trust the court to decide that there is a huge gap between what is attributed to my client in the indictment and reality," said Adv. Chimi. In order to influence the outcome of the trial, and for that I express my displeasure. "

Advocate Chimi further noted that Strugg "is a bereaved father who lost his son, who was a fighter in the Cherry Regiment, and has now lost everything left of his world, and should be allowed to conduct his trial without undue pressure."
