The Criminal Security in Mahrada, Hama, arrested two people who were involved in promoting counterfeit dollars.
The Ministry of Interior stated, in a statement that SANA received a copy of today, that the Criminal Security Center in Mahrada, Hama, received information about the presence of a person who offered sums of counterfeit US dollars, trying to exchange and sell them. For promoting and attempting to exchange counterfeit dollars, and that he obtained them from another person, he was lured and arrested, and a sum of 1,850 counterfeit dollars was seized from the 50-dollar denomination.
According to the ministry's statement, the second arrestee admitted buying the forged amounts from a person residing in a neighboring country and bringing them into Syria to be disposed of through the first arrestee in return for a sum of money.
The ministry indicated that the counterfeit dollars had been confiscated and that legal action had been taken against the detainees to be brought before the duly competent judiciary.
