It's about 30 meters of meadow.

The gap between Finsterwald and Dürnbach along the communal road between Finsterwald and Dürnbach is long enough to allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely pass this route on their own terrain.

This gap should now finally be closed.

Gmund - On the sidelines of the latest municipal council meeting, Mayor Alfons Besel (FWG) announced that the contract negotiations with the property owner had been concluded.

"The construction work is expected to take place in October," added Besel, "then the gap will be closed."

"Gap path" is closed: local councils applauded

This news was worth spontaneous applause from the local councils - proof that they, too, were delighted to hear of the end of the long-running hit. The path has been under construction since March 2017. The congregation had started although they did not have all the signatures in their pockets. Initially, two farmers refused to sign - in protest against the federal traffic route plan, which provides for a bypass between Moosrain and Finsterwald, past the farmers' farm. This refusal as a means of pressure caused a lot of public attention, even the ZDF reported on the case at the time. Because one of the two farmers gave in, the construction vehicles were able to move in last July and close the longer of the two gaps over 100 meters.

There remained 30 meters of meadow near the level crossing, through which a beaten path quickly found.

Was it the mayor's negotiating skills or the promise of something in return?

There is silence about this.

It simply means that a solution has been found that both contracting parties accept.

"Lückenweg" will be closed in October: construction costs will probably remain below the estimated sum of 319,000 euros

When the measure has actually been carried out, which has already been awarded as a complete package, treasurer Georg Dorn can start the accounting.

In 2015, so Dorn when asked, the measure was estimated at 319,000 euros.

When all the bills are in, the government can be reminded of its funding commitment of 80,000 euros.

So far, so Dorn, 264,000 euros have been spent, the last gap will probably amount to 20,000 euros.

The "gap path" will be cheaper than planned - good news.
