After the latest statements by CSU boss Markus Söder and CDU boss Armin Laschet, the Greens accuse the Union of unclear positions in climate protection policy.
Berlin - "Söder speaks of the fact that he wants to bring the coal phase out to 2030, Laschet insists on 2038, but then to be able to imagine that it might be possible earlier," said Green parliamentary deputy Oliver Krischer on Monday the AFP news agency.
Both politicians jointly blocked the expansion of wind power.
"This jumble is a threat to climate protection, security of supply and the climate-friendly industrial location," warned Krischer.
The Bavarian Prime Minister Söder said last week that the coal phase-out should be brought forward to 2030.
In contrast, NRW Prime Minister and Union Chancellor candidate Laschet said in the ZDF summer interview on Sunday that the previous exit date of 2038 should be retained.
However, he believes that the exit will take place more quickly, this will result solely from the CO2 price.
"The Union is completely overwhelmed when it comes to the central task of climate protection," said Krischer. "The Bavarian Prime Minister simply raises demands, but does not implement anything in his own federal state. Armin Laschet maneuvers around and simply transfers responsibility to others." The Union candidate for chancellor leaves the country "completely in the dark about what its climate policy should look like" and does not name any goals or measures.
"Anyone who claims to want to take on responsibility for the future must present clear concepts of how renewable energies can be expanded quickly and industry, transport and buildings can be made socially acceptable and climate-neutral," demanded Krischer.
"The design of this transformation is the basis for our future, climate-neutral prosperity. With Laschet and the Union there is nothing to all of this."
