After the last German soldiers returned from Afghanistan, 905 former helpers and family members have already returned to Germany.

Berlin - According to the Ministry of Defense on Monday, 491 former local staff who worked for the German Armed Forces in the past two years have received a confirmation of acceptance in Germany.

In addition, there were family members in 1991.

So far 905 of them have arrived in Germany.

According to its own information, the Federal Foreign Office has issued 2,400 visas for local staff and their relatives.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office in Berlin said that all helpers and family members who submitted a corresponding application in Mazar-i-Sharif were allowed to enter the country.

The federal government is currently examining ways to support local staff and their relatives when they enter Germany.

Tickets for scheduled flights could be paid for or charter flights could be provided, said Interior Ministry spokesman Steve Alter.

He expressly defended the decision to only grant the victims a temporary residence permit.

People come to Germany to get protection here.

If people were able to live safely in their country again, they could return there.

However, if the situation is not better after the deadline, the residence permit would be extended.
