Weilheim / Schongau - The storm was announced, but it should have surprised most of the people in this intensity.

On Sunday afternoon from around 4 p.m., a huge thunderstorm cell moved across the Weilheim-Schongau district, and the northern part of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district was also affected.

Storm in the Weilheim-Schongau region: It moved from west to east

In the comments on the Facebook post of the Schongauer Nachrichten on the storm in the Weilheim-Schongau district, the extent of the super cell becomes clear - from flooded streets to grills, pools and gardens that are centimeter thick with hail.

There was rain, some hail, wind, thunder and lightning everywhere.

Coming from the west, however, the storm raged particularly violently in Prem, Steingaden and Rottenbuch, before moving further north-east and hit Eglfing, Obersöchering, Iffeldorf and Habach with full force.

One person was killed in the violent storm: a 57-year-old hunter.

The man was on a hunter's stand near Eglfing during the thunderstorm.

A gust of wind tore it down, the man fell down and sustained fatal injuries.

For the time from Monday afternoon, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the German Weather Service (DWD) is already warning of new heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and squalls.
