More than 400 exhibitors participated in the export recovery

The two jewelry fairs are the first physical trade exhibitions organized by the TDC since the epidemic, attracting more than 400 exhibitors, most of them local exhibitors.

Although various countries still implement entry and exit restrictions, some overseas exhibitors still send local representatives to participate, including countries and regions such as Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Italy, and India.

Since this year, the global demand for the jewelry industry has rebounded, coupled with a low base last year, resulting in a significant recovery in overall exports. Exports in the first five months recorded an increase (+29.4%).

Hong Kong's precious jewellery exports regained an upward trend from January to May 2021, sharply increasing by 82.3% to 28.65 billion Hong Kong dollars.

It can be seen that the impact of the epidemic on the industry has gradually reduced.

Zhou Yuncheng, chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Jewellery Industry Advisory Committee, said at a press conference that although the external economic environment is still unclear, Hong Kong jewellers can adopt a strategy of diversifying the market in the long run.

In addition to continuing to pay attention to emerging markets, you can also try to expand online sales channels, use online procurement platforms and participate in online exhibitions to capture all-round business opportunities.

At the same time, SMEs and entrepreneurs must seize the development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to explore the mainland market.
