Shooting, this Monday afternoon, in the Beauval district, in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne).
Two men - brothers or cousins - were the target of one or more shooters, who fled after firing on their victims, who were at the foot of the Aquarius residence, at the corner of rue René-Bazin and avenue de la Concorde.
Prosecutor Laureline Peyrefitte visited the scene shortly after the tragedy.
She entrusted the investigation - opened for attempted murder - to the judicial police (PJ) of Meaux.
Many officials from the Meaux police station and their colleagues from the PJ, as well as municipal police officers, were still there, around 7:30 p.m., to find any clues and carry out the neighborhood investigation.
A red beacon surrounding trees prevented onlookers from accessing the scene of the shooting.
If the situation was tense at first, calm had returned this Monday evening and the investigators were working calmly.
No one was arrested
Little is known about the drama that unfolded shortly after 4.30 p.m. on the small shaded lawn at the foot of the buildings.
One or more people fired - possibly with a long gun according to testimony - in the direction of the two men, aged in their thirties.
One of them was hit in the leg: he was still there when help arrived to provide first aid, before being transported to a hospital in the Paris region.
As for the second, he was shot in the back and also received several blows.
He was accompanied by relatives to the Grand Hospital de l'Est Ile-de-France (Ghef), the Meaux site, before being transferred elsewhere.
His vital prognosis was engaged at first.
For the moment, no one has been arrested and investigators do not know the reasons for such a shooting. They will look at the personalities of the victims. The track of a settlement of accounts linked to drug trafficking would be privileged, even if the investigators exclude no other.
