Fourteen people were killed Sunday in Niger in an attack in Banibangou (west), near the border with Mali, a region where civilians are regularly the target of suspected jihadists, the Nigerian government announced Monday evening.

“This attack, which targeted civilian populations, reported fourteen deaths, nine of which were in a field, three in the said village and two on their way back (from the fields). A wounded was evacuated to the hospital of Niamey ”
, specified the Nigerien ministry of the Interior in a statement read on the public radio.
