Swimming friend Mr. Wu said that the deceased was nicknamed "Napoleon" and was a former retired lifeguard who was stationed at the Chai Wan swimming pool.

A few years ago, the deceased retired and went to swim in the sea off the Blue Bay Peninsula as usual. "Swimming to an isolated island and turning around, we go to the park early in the morning at 6 a.m., do warm-ups and fall into the water. It takes 20 minutes to go back and forth." It refers to the deceased's excellent swimming skills, "Zhong is sharper than us (other swimmers)" plus today is not a big wave, it is estimated that the accident was caused by a heart attack.

He pointed out that many people come to swim in the early morning and from 3 to 4 in the afternoon.

The police said that they received a report from the victim’s wife at 7:30 in the morning, stating that the 68-year-old husband, surnamed Ji, was found drowning in the sea about 30 meters off 28 Siu Sai Wan Road, Chai Wan. A swimmer rescued him.

Police officers arrived at the scene and the victim was in a coma and was sent to Eastern District Hospital for treatment. He was later certified dead.

After preliminary investigation by the police, it is believed that the deceased was drowned during swimming and there is no suspiciousness.

It is understood that the deceased suffers from high cholesterol and needs to take medication and go to the Eastern District Hospital for follow-up consultations regularly.

At 5 o'clock in the morning today, the deceased set off for a morning swim, and his wife also went to the site for morning exercises later, but the deceased was not seen.

Later, a swimmer found that the deceased was floating and sinking on the surface of the sea, dragged him to the rocky beach for first aid, and shouted for help.

The call for help attracted the attention of swimmers on the shore, who immediately notified the wife of the deceased and called the police.

The fire boat dispatched a search, rescued the victim ashore, and then sent him to the Eastern District Hospital for rescue, but he was hopeless and exhausted.
