A 68-year-old retired lifeguard, nicknamed "Napoleon", was floated and sunk off the Blue Bay Peninsula at No. 28 Siu Sai Wan Road at 7:30 am today (26th). Fire and marine police dispatched a search and rescued the victim ashore.
The victim fell into a coma. The rescuers first performed first aid on the shore, and then sent him to the Eastern Hospital for rescue, but he was finally unable to survive.
According to the swimmers at the scene, the victim was a retired lifeguard who had been stationed at the Chai Wan swimming pool. After retirement, he went to swim in the sea off the Blue Bay Peninsula as usual. His swimming skills were exquisite. It is estimated that the accident was caused by a heart attack.

Swimming friend Mr. Wu said that the deceased was nicknamed "Napoleon" and was a former retired lifeguard who was stationed at the Chai Wan swimming pool.
A few years ago, the deceased retired and went to swim in the sea off the Blue Bay Peninsula as usual. "Swimming to an isolated island and turning around, we go to the park early in the morning at 6 a.m., do warm-ups and fall into the water. It takes 20 minutes to go back and forth." It refers to the deceased's excellent swimming skills, "Zhong is sharper than us (other swimmers)" plus today is not a big wave, it is estimated that the accident was caused by a heart attack.
He pointed out that many people come to swim in the early morning and from 3 to 4 in the afternoon.
It is understood that the deceased had high cholesterol, and he always went to the Eastern District Hospital for follow-up consultations. Two doses of the new crown vaccine have been injected. I believe the incident is not suspicious.
