In addition to the pavilions of plants and flowers, the Ministry of Tourism and the Governorate of Damascus allocated, in the 41st session of the International Flower Show, large areas to support craftsmen, promote the culture of recycling consumables and waste, spread awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, and activate cultural activities directed at children.

In the exhibition, which was launched on the 18th of July in Tishreen Park in Damascus, the Ministry of Tourism displayed in its pavilion a variety of flowers, trees and heritage collectibles, which were very popular with visitors to take memorial photos in front of it, especially the model of the Damascene house, according to the head of the Promotion Department at the Damascus Tourism Directorate, Engineer Abdul Basit Khattab.

A letter to SANA indicated that the advantage of the exhibition this year was the participation of more than 40 craftsmen who displayed their handicrafts of crochet, wool, beads and accessories, in addition to natural cosmetics, pointing out that the ministry provided many facilities for those coming from the governorates by hosting them for free.

The ministry also supervised, according to Khattab, the organization of cultural activities such as plays, artistic performances, shadow fiction and open air cinema, with the aim of providing interest and fun for visitors, especially children.

Responsible for the Summer Environmental Club in the Environment Directorate in Damascus Governorate, engineer Victoria Tomjan drew attention to the implementation of awareness activities for children in the exhibition about the dangers of fires on forests and green spaces. She also encouraged them to participate in planting Damascene trees, seedlings and roses, and collecting and recycling waste.

Tomjan stated that the Environment Directorate invested in the good turnout of the exhibition by all groups, especially children and housewives, to promote environmental awareness and the importance of the individual's role in protecting the environment.

From the Environment Directorate, Mervat Haj Ali also pointed out that the exhibition was used to teach housewives how to recycle consumable materials and use them to make useful things and antiques to decorate their homes by displaying paintings made of copy paper, cardboard boxes, chocolate, antiques and plastic artifacts that are difficult to decompose in the soil.

Engineer Basem Qaddoura, one of the participants in the exhibition, indicated that they sought, through their participation, to encourage visitors to recycle and benefit from environmental waste in making useful things and giving an aesthetic view of places by placing wooden models made by recycling environmental waste.
