It is well known that the application for Tesla's Supercharger did not work out.

Four years later, the municipality of Peiting is again involved as a location for fast charging stations.

This time the start seems more promising.

The first investors have already knocked on the door.

Peiting

- The demand for electric cars has risen rapidly since the state has been promoting purchases with high subsidies. In the course of twelve months, well over half a million vehicles with purely electric or plug-in hybrid engines have been newly registered in Germany - more than in all previous years combined. Because this trend is likely to continue and even increase, the question of where to charge all of these battery-powered cars is of crucial importance. Fast charging stations with over 150 kW of power, which make it possible to supply a modern electric car with enough energy to continue driving in under half an hour, are still a rarity. The federal government has recognized this and initiated the so-called "Schnellladegesetz" (fast charging law). With two billion euros by 2023, providers will be able to build and operate 1000 so-called “fast charging hubs”.

There is no station with an output of more than 150 kW in Peiting yet

Where exactly these should arise is of course still open.

But companies and municipalities can already throw their hats in the ring and use an online tool to indicate possible locations for a fast charging station to the responsible National Infrastructure Control Center.

Peiting has now also made use of this possibility, as the first municipality in the district.

Although there are already several public charging options for e-cars in town, two more LEW charging stations will soon go into operation in front of the town hall.

However, they all only have charging capacities of eleven or 22 kilowatts.

“So far there is no quick charging station with an output of over 150 kW in Peiting,” regrets Mayor Peter Ostenrieder.

The community wanted to change that as early as 2017 when, at the request of the CSU parliamentary group, the US electric car pioneer Tesla was approached to apply for a location for a supercharger from the company (we reported).

"Unfortunately, our proposal did not meet with open ears," says Ostenrieder, who at the time had initiated the topic as the CSU parliamentary group leader in the local council.

“I am all the more pleased that there is now, so to speak, the same procedure on a neutral level.

Our good arguments for such a location are the same as they were back then. "

Town hall chief refers to the optimal traffic situation of his community

The town hall chief refers to the optimal traffic situation of his community, in whose corridor three federal highways cross.

"Peiting is a junction of the routes from Augsburg to Innsbruck and to the Fernpass in the south, as well as from Kempten in the direction of Salzburg."

If you park your car for charging, you should use the waiting time to shop and stop by

From the mayor's point of view, a successful application would have several advantages for the community. "Since the search for such stations is usually carried out via an app or directly from the vehicle itself, customers and visitors are led to Peiting, so to speak, and there is no shortage of offers of a gastronomic or commercial nature." should best use the waiting time for shopping and stopping off in the surrounding shops and restaurants. This applies in particular to the car park at the girls' school in the center of the village, which is one of the three potential locations that the municipality has reported. The other two are located on Zeißlerweg, where, as is well known, a café will soon be built with the new hardware store, and on Füssener Straße in the Moosbachweg area.

The community has evidently already aroused interest.

The first inquiries about the individual locations have already been received, says Ostenrieder happily.

These will now be collected, checked and then presented to the local council, he announced.

Since 2004, Schongau and Peiting have been going separate ways when it comes to promoting music

.

But that could change surprisingly now.
