The Tunisian presidency called on the people to pay attention and not to slip behind the advocates of chaos, noting that the order to freeze the activities of the Tunisian Parliament will last for 30 days.

In a statement published by the Tunisian presidency on its website today, it said that President Kais Saied's decisions came after consulting both the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives, and pursuant to Article 80 of the Constitution.

The statement pointed out that the parliamentary immunity of all members of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People was lifted, and the President of the Republic assumed the executive authority with the help of a government headed by a prime minister appointed by the President.

The statement indicated that an order will be issued in the coming hours regulating these exceptional measures, which were necessitated by the circumstances, and which will be lifted by the disappearance of their causes.

Yesterday evening, the Tunisian president announced freezing the work of Parliament and relieving Prime Minister Hisham Al-Mashishi from his post against the background of the widespread protests that took place in many cities in the country. He also announced his assumption of executive power with the help of a new prime minister appointed by him.

Yesterday, several areas witnessed mass demonstrations against the practices of the Brotherhood “Ennahda” movement, as mass demonstrations took place in the cities of El Kef, Kairouan, Gafsa, Sousse, Bizerte and Sfax, to demand the dissolution of the movement, while demonstrators attacked its headquarters, blaming it for the crisis in the economic situation and the failure to confront the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.
