Today, Tunisian President Kais Saied issued a presidential order banning the roaming of people and vehicles in all of the country from today until next Friday, with the exception of urgent health cases and night workers, with the possibility of amending this period by a notification issued by the presidency.

The presidential decree, which was reported by Tunisia Africa News Agency, prohibits the movement of people and vehicles between cities outside the curfew hours, except to fulfill their basic needs or for urgent health reasons. It also prohibits any gathering of more than three people on the public road and in public squares.

Saeed also issued another presidential order to suspend work for two days, starting from tomorrow, in central administrations, foreign interests, local groups and public institutions of an administrative nature, with the possibility of extending the period of suspension of work, explaining the exceptions to this order.

In addition, during a meeting with the heads of a number of national organizations, the Tunisian president stressed respect for individual and public rights and freedoms, respecting the deadlines for implementing exceptional measures, and announcing the composition of the new government within days, according to what the head of the National Union of Tunisian Women, Radhia Jerbi, told the agency.

The reactions of political parties and civil society organizations varied between parties supporting the decisions of the Tunisian president, given the deteriorating situation and the spread of corruption, and others opposing them for fear of what they considered an attempt to overthrow the constitution.

In this context, the protesters, supporters of the Brotherhood’s Ennahda movement, today withdrew completely from the vicinity of the Assembly of People’s Representatives in the suburb of Bardo. On the other hand, young people supporting the decisions of the Tunisian President continued to station themselves and stationed on the same street tens of meters away, chanting slogans in support of the decisions announced by Saeed last night, which included freezing the work and competencies of the Assembly. People's Representatives for a period of 30 days and the lifting of parliamentary immunity for all its members.

Saeed's supporters demanded that those involved in corruption files be held accountable by members of the government and parliament, insisting not to leave and stay in the vicinity of the parliament building in anticipation of a possible return of supporters of the Brotherhood's Ennahda movement.

In the vicinity of Parliament and at the level of its various doors, there are formations of various security forces to secure the place, while elements of the Special Military Forces and Presidential Security are protecting the Parliament building from the inside.

Saeed had announced yesterday, coinciding with the anniversary of the celebration of the Republic Day, that he had taken exceptional measures in accordance with Article 80 of the Constitution, which consisted of freezing the work of Parliament for a period of 30 days, lifting the immunity of MPs and dismissing the Prime Minister, Hisham Meshishi.
