These are the key Olympic events to watch in the USA tonight.

The 2020 Summer Olympics, which were delayed a year by the covid-19 pandemic, are underway in Tokyo.

While Japan is 13 hours ahead of the US East Coast, you can catch some live events and NBC broadcasts tonight.

Here, some of the events we are seeing tonight:

- Beach volleyball

: April Ross and Alix Klineman from the US team will face Liliana Fernandez and Elsa Baquerizo from Spain.

The events air at 8pm ET in the US and are also streamed live.

- Swimming

: Ryan Murphy (men's 100m backstroke) and Lilly King (women's 100m breaststroke) are competing.

The swim finals begin at 9:30 pm ET on NBC and on live broadcasts.

-Surf:

Both men's and women's surfing competitions enter the quarterfinals (subject to change according to wave conditions).

The quarter-finals and semi-finals begin at 6 p.m. ET.

Live broadcasts will be as follows: men's quarterfinals at 6 pm ET, women's quarterfinals at 8:20 pm ET, men's semifinals at 10:45 pm ET, and women's semifinals at 12 am ET.

- Girls Basketball

: Watch Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart.

The United States women's basketball team is the favorite to win a seventh consecutive gold medal in Tokyo.

Heading into Tuesday morning, you can watch the game between the United States and Nigeria at 12:40 am ET in the United States.

From mathematics to Olympic gold: the inspiring story of Anna Kiesenhofer

Anna Kiesenhofer's story is not only notable for her brilliant victory in women's road cycling.

The Austrian has a PhD in Mathematics, and little by little she developed a passion for cycling until she reached the Olympic summit in Fuji on Saturday with the obtaining of the gold medal.

Kiesenhofer studied at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and there he learned to speak Spanish.

The also extriathlete, lives in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she works as a researcher and teacher in the field of partial differential equations.

Argentine fencer receives marriage proposal after losing his fight

Argentine fencer María Belén Pérez Maurice missed her chance to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday.

But after their match, her boyfriend had a surprise.

The 36-year-old fencer will leave the Olympics with a ring, after accepting a surprise marriage proposal from her coach and partner.

PĂ©rez Maurice was in the middle of his post-match interview, following her 15-12 loss to Hungarian Anna Marton in the women's singles saber, when Lucas Guillermo Saucedo proposed with a large handwritten note that read "Do you want to marry me? ".

In the images that were shared on the Internet, she is seen as she turns around, sees the message and screams before quickly accepting the marriage proposal of her partner of 17 years, who got down on her knees.

The couple hugged and shared a kiss.

"They (the press) told me to turn around, and he had the letter. I forgot everything. I was like 'oh my God,'" PĂ©rez Maurice told reporters.

"We are very happy. We are very good partners. Of course, we have fights, but we enjoy each other. We love each other very much and we want to spend our lives together."
