The United States accused China of violating human rights in Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet.
State Department officials said Sherman expressed concern about these issues.
The official said: "We are looking for constructive ways to advance some of these issues...I don't think we are expecting any major breakthroughs."

I discussed issues important to the US with PRC Vice FM Xie, including the climate crisis, COVID-19, and our serious concerns about PRC actions in Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and across the Taiwan Strait. The US and our allies and partners will always stand up for our values.
