The Nanterre public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday that it would appeal the conviction of "Haurus", a former DGSI agent sentenced last Thursday to seven years' imprisonment, two of which were suspended for selling information on the darknet from files of protected police.

In a statement, the prosecution stressed that "
the quantum of the sentence imposed appears to pose a difficulty of compliance with the law
", citing an article of the Code of Criminal Procedure which provides that "
the simple suspension is applicable with regard to persons physical to prison sentences pronounced for a term of not more than five years
”.

The sentence is illegal, I did not think that a court could show such incompetence
", had declared to AFP the lawyer of "Haurus", his lawyer Me Yassine Bouzrou.
"
We are going to ask for release because it is inadmissible to be imprisoned on the basis of an illegal sentence
," he added.
This 35-year-old former police sergeant was being prosecuted for a dozen counts and had admitted the majority of the charges against him, declaring to have acted out of profit. His sentence could not be modified "in
order to prevent
" new facts, the judge had declared during the deliberation, stressing that "
Haurus
" also had the definitive ban on exercising in the public service.
