It was the third chance for Mexico from the springboard.

And the women drew strength.

Alejandra Orozco and Gabriela Agúndez won the bronze medal after a competition in which their acrobatics earned them to take the Japanese and the Canadians off the podium.

The winners were the Chinese Chen and Zhang.

the Americans Parratto and Schenell took the silver.

In the first jump, the Mexicans had finished in fourth place;

in the second, they were seventh.

There was nervousness in the pits.

The key was the free dives from the third round and thus they climbed to fifth place, then to fourth and, in the final round, they managed to take third place with a score of 299.70, below 310.80 for the Americans and 363.78 for the Americans. Asians.

Mexico already has two fourth places.

The pair of Carolina Mendoza and Lolita Hernández was close to the podium in synchronization from the three-meter springboard.

The not so rookies Kevin Berlin and Diego Balleza gave a good performance from 10 meters.

Alejandra Orozco (Zapopan, 24 years old) holds the youth record.

At the age of 15, she won an Olympic medal, silver, along with Paola Espinosa in London 2012. Orozco rose as one of the divers with the best future and learned closely from Espinosa, a Mexican multi-medalist.

At Rio 2016, the pair suffered a severe setback by finishing in sixth place.

The young success, as he has assured, made him lose focus.

In Tokyo he took out all the courage saved throughout the process.

Two medals at the Games make it one of the best in all history.

Gabriela Agúndez (La Paz, Baja California Sur, 20 years old) has been a partner of Alejandra Orozco.

One of the greatest parameters for divers is their result in the Pan American Games.

Agúndez and Orozco won the silver medal in 2019. Individually, Agúndez finished sixth.

The experience was taken from Orozco.

It will come in handy when you compete individually in the preliminaries this Wednesday, August 4 (1:00 GMT).

And, of course, there will be Agúndez for a couple of more Olympic cycles.

Mexico adds its second medal in Tokyo 2020 after the other bronze achieved in archery with Alejandra Valencia and Luis Álvarez.
