At the beginning of July, the association moved into its new home in the Haus des Gastes in Tegernsee - right next to the Tourist Info (TI).

The central location has many advantages and also brings more public traffic with it.

In general, life at the DAV section has now picked up again after the Corona standstill.

Tegernsee - DAV branch manager Caro Machl and her two colleagues have only been present on Hauptstrasse in Tegernsee for a few weeks, but the interaction between the Alpine Club and tourist information has already proven itself. Guests who are more athletic and want to go high in the mountains can get detailed maps and professional tips from the DAV. “What the TI cannot answer, it forwards to us, and vice versa,” says Machl. Many who find their way to the new office also want to find out about membership in the DAV. Where can I sign in? Which services are included? Questions that Machl and her colleagues are happy to answer.

It is well known that outdoor and mountain sports boomed in Corona times. However, this trend did not affect the number of members in the Tegernsee Section one to one. Although the association, headed by Rainer Toepel, registered an increase in membership in 2020, it was three to four percent lower than in previous years. Machl explains the crux of the matter: Although more people are out and about in the mountains than usual during the pandemic, there are many inexperienced people who originally had hardly any contact with the mountains. "There were a few deficits in terms of clarification," says Machl. Membership in the DAV has many advantages. In addition to extensive insurance coverage and discounts on the various Alpine Club huts, members have the opportunity to take part in training courses or to join the guided tours of the individual sections.

DAV with new office in Tegernsee: Tour program is also picking up speed

After hardly anything was possible in the lockdown, the DAV touring program in Tegernsee picked up speed again at the beginning of June.

Above all, mountain hikes, high-altitude and via ferrata tours are offered until autumn - and are well received by mountain fans, as Machl reports.

She also leads mountain tours herself, in this country and in Austria.

When staying overnight in a hut, the current Corona regulations must of course still be observed - "but all participants are very understanding," says Machl.

With the new office, which was previously housed in smaller rooms in Rosenstrasse, the DAV section Tegernsee now has a home that meets all requirements.

Not only the office itself, but also the archive of the section and the tools for road construction are now stored here.

“It's all under one roof,” says Caro Machl happily.
