The government has set up a special task force of the State Department, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Justice and other government ministries to run a massive pressure campaign on Ben & Jerrys and its parent company Unilever.

Last week, three days after the decision was published, the Foreign Ministry sent a telegram to all Israeli missions in North America and Europe, instructing it to launch a pressure campaign against the company and against Unilever Corporation.

"The 18 months until the decision enters into force must be used to change it," the telegram read.

"The ambition is to exert consumer, media, network and political pressure over time on Unilever Global and Ben & Jerry's in order to lead to the opening of a dialogue with the company."



The Israeli missions in North America and Europe have been asked by the State Department to encourage Jewish organizations, pro-Israel advocacy organizations and evangelical communities to organize demonstrations in front of Ben & Jerry's and Unilever offices, as well as to put pressure on investors and buyers of the two companies.

The State Department asked the delegations to act to get as many people as possible to issue public statements condemning Unilever and Ben & Jerry's and to provoke "public-looking protests - statements, articles, appeals to key members of companies and other protest measures."

Representatives were instructed to use social networks to echo these protest measures, convey their visibility and thus encourage further similar actions.



The Israeli Embassy in Washington and the Israeli consulates throughout the United States have been instructed to push for anti-BDS legislation in the various US states against Ben & Jerry's and Unilever, and to contact all the governors' offices to which the US Ambassador Gilad Ardan has already sent a letter.

Israeli diplomats were asked to reiterate Israeli messages that Ben & Jerrys and Unilever had surrendered and collaborated with the BDS movement "parts of which are driven by anti-Semitism", and to emphasize that the membership decision is "hypocritical, contrary to social responsibility Extreme cancellation. "



"Politicians must be approached at all levels ...", the telegram read.

"Offices of friendly congressmen, state legislators - with priority for those who have already dealt with anti-BDS legislation, weighty mayors and general prosecutors to consult on possible legal courses of action."



Instructions sent to Israeli missions around the world asked Israeli diplomats to report and immediately alert any information about further attempts by pro-boycott organizations to replicate the success of Ben & Jerry's move, and to promote similar moves against other international companies.
