Despite his mobility disability, young Rashid Makhlati defies circumstances and continues his university studies

Young Rashid Makhlati, born in Damascus in 1991, was able to formulate a story of determination, ambition and determination that he wrote through his scientific excellence since his childhood, overcoming his complete motor disability, to be an example for Syrian youth of his generation after he was able to continue his university studies despite all difficulties.

Rashid says in his interview with SANA Youth, the real disability is the lack of resolve, weakness of will, lack of ambition and surrender to weakness. As for physical disability, it was never a reason not to achieve dreams and goals because the will makes the impossible even if the human senses decrease.

He explained that his parents noticed his superiority and excellence in studies from a young age, and encouraged him to continue the path despite his motor disability represented by a complete quadriplegic paralysis to enter the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of Spanish Literature, where he is studying now in the third year among a group of friends who in turn supported him morally and academically.

Rashid chose Spanish literature because it suits his disability through communication, interpretation and text. Enthusiasm.

He pointed out that the support he received from all those around him was the cornerstone of his success after a course of study that spanned for years, during which he was able, through follow-up, diligence and patience, to achieve the distinction he desired and reap the fruits of his labor, insisting on progressing at a steady pace towards his future, adding that his parents gave him all their time and effort since today. First in school so far.

More than that, the young man, Makhlati, volunteered in the “Disability Intilaaqah” team, which works to increase community awareness and work to develop the capabilities of people of determination and support them to engage in the work environment and various social activities, noting that the team is a group of promising Syrian youth holding university degrees. It is their responsibility to raise the capabilities of people with disabilities and provide them with experience and skills to enter the labor market in conjunction with spreading sufficient awareness among various segments of society about this category and its diverse capabilities for unlimited giving.
