Gymnast Simone Biles leaves the Olympic final due to medical problems after denouncing psychological pressure

Tennis player Naomi Osaka, one of the stars of these games, is eliminated and refers to the psychological burden of having to win: "It's a bit too much."

Reigning Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles left the team final on Tuesday with a "medical problem" after performing her jump on the colt.

His withdrawal was decisive for the US team to lose to Russia and not reach its goal of achieving its third consecutive Olympic gold in this discipline.

Great Britain achieved bronze.

"It will be evaluated daily to determine if it receives medical clearance for future competitions," the US gymnastics federation explained in a statement.

Biles was due to take part in the women's individual final on Thursday, although her presence is currently on hold.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist participated in the final's first rotation with an

, a plank somersault.

However, instead of completing it in 2.5 spins, he did it in 1.5 spins.

On landing he stumbled backwards.

The 24-year-old American star, considered the greatest gymnast of all time, immediately sought refuge in her coach.

Later she left the competition pavilion accompanied by her medical team.

Biles returned several minutes later with his right leg bandaged.

She removed the hand guards for the uneven bars, the next element in which she had to compete, and hugged her teammates Grace McCallum, Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles before donning a jacket and pants.

Biles arrived in Tokyo as the undisputed star of the Games, but she signed several failures during the qualifying round that increased the pressure on her to repeat the feat of the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016.

"It was not an easy day or my best day, but I got over it. I really feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders sometimes," he explained this Monday in a post on the social network Instagram.

"I know I make it seem like the pressure doesn't affect me, but sometimes it's difficult. The Olympics are no joke!"

Psychological pressure played a key role in the defeat of tennis player Naomi Osaka, Japan's star and responsible for lighting the cauldron at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

This was explained by the athlete after losing in the third round against the Czech Marketa Vondrousova.

"I definitely feel like there was a lot of pressure," Osaka said.

"I think it's maybe because I haven't played in the Olympics before and for the first year [it was] a bit too much," he added.

Osaka withdrew from Roland Garros claiming that he wanted to focus on his mental well-being after announcing that he would not hold press conferences during the Paris tournament.

He also did not participate in Wimbledon for the same reasons.

On the fourth day of competition, Hawaiian Carissa Moore made history by winning gold in surfing, a discipline that debuted in Tokyo.

The American women, on the other hand, fell to Japan 20-18 in their last match of the group stage in 3x3 basketball.

Despite the loss, the Americans will reach the knockout round as seeds, after amassing a 6-1 record in four days.

The semi-finals and medal matches in the sport's Olympic debut are scheduled for Wednesday.
