American gymnast Simone Biles surprised the Olympic world on Tuesday by withdrawing from the team final due to the emotional pressure she suffered during the Tokyo Games.
"Physically I feel good. I'm in shape," he told the "TODAY" program on NBC, the sister network of Noticias Telemundo.
"Emotionally, it varies according to time and moment. Getting to the Olympics and being the main star is not an easy feat," he said.
Biles, considered the best gymnast of all time, explained that her fight is "more mental" "We are managing a couple of things internally," he acknowledged.
The Olympic champion already confessed on Monday that the pressure she felt had affected her performance during the qualifying rounds, where she made some mistakes.
The US gymnastics federation initially reported in a statement that the athlete had withdrawn due to "medical problems" and that "she will be evaluated daily to determine if she receives medical clearance for future competitions."
