The Cuban embassy in France has apparently been the target of an arson attack.
As the national representation announced, the building in Paris had been attacked with Molotov cocktails.
There was considerable damage.
However, the diplomatic staff was not injured in the incident.
The embassy posted photos of the damage on Twitter and condemned the attack.
The embassy initially held back with statements about the alleged perpetrators.
The French police initially did not provide any further information either.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry is different: "Those directly responsible for these acts are those who incite violence and hatred against our country," wrote the Cuban Foreign Ministry on Twitter.
Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla was even more specific.
He blames the US government for the continuous campaigns against Cuba, wrote the top diplomat, also on Twitter.
The US government is promoting this behavior, wrote Rodriguez with reference to the arson attack.
Given the disastrous economic situation and the inadequate management of the government in the corona pandemic, Cuba has been grappling with heavy protests in its own country for about two weeks.
There is a lack of food and medicines (read an analysis here).
In the most violent demonstrations in decades, there were clashes with the security forces, at least one man was killed.
As a result, the government of the communist Caribbean state arrested thousands of people, in some cases they are apparently denied access to lawyers.
The US then imposed sanctions on Cuban government officials.
"This is just the beginning - the United States will continue to punish those responsible for the oppression of the Cuban people," said US President Joe Biden.
The United States is on the side of the "brave Cubans."
