Paris: the scooter robber steals 2 million euros in jewelry from Chaumet


The police are on Tuesday evening in the jewelry store in the Champs-Elysées district. In the afternoon, the luxury trade was the victim of robbery.

The Chaumet jewelry store, one of the most prestigious and old French houses of jewelry, jewelry and watchmaking, founded in 1780, was the victim of a "monumental" robbery, according to a police source, this Tuesday in Paris .

A man, who arrived on a scooter, appeared with a handgun inside the store.

He managed to get hold of the jewelry before setting off again on his two-wheeler.

A first inventory assesses the damage at 2 million euros.

This is not the first time that the Chaumet house has been targeted.

In November 2009, the store in Place Vendôme, the jeweler's flagship, was the victim of a robbery.

The damage was still impressive: 1.9 million euros.

The prosecution confirms that a flagrant investigation by the head of armed robbery has been opened and the investigations have been entrusted to the banditry repression brigade of the Paris judicial police.
