It is a drama of social isolation.
The lifeless body of a 72-year-old woman was found in her apartment in Puteaux on Monday.
A dog, also dead, was at his side.
The emergency services were warned when a strong odor emanated from the accommodation located in a small four-storey building on rue Jean-Jaurès.
"The body was in a fairly advanced state of decomposition," said a source close to the case.
According to the first analyzes of forensic medicine, the death would go back to a fortnight and would be of natural cause.
Diogenes Syndrome
The septuagenarian was found lying on her back in the middle of her living room.
According to the first testimonies and observations collected on the spot by the investigators, it would seem that the deceased lady suffered from Diogenes syndrome.
It is a form of behavioral disorder often associating a tendency to accumulate objects, neglect of personal and household hygiene as well as social isolation.
In a very large number of cases, this syndrome appears after psychological shock.
It mainly affects the elderly.
