The DPRK announced today the reopening of communication channels with South Korea under an agreement between DPRK President Kim Jong Un and South Korea's Moon Jae-in.
"The whole Korean nation wishes to see North-South relations recover from a state of setback and stagnation as soon as possible... In this regard, Presidents Kim and Moon agreed to take a major step in restoring mutual trust and promoting reconciliation through reopening," the DPRK news agency said. The lines of communication cut between the two sides, during several messages exchanged by the two sides recently.”
And according to the agreement reached by the two presidents, the two Koreas took a measure to restart the hotlines of communication between the two sides at 10 am this morning, adding that this step will have a positive impact on the development of relations between the two sides.
In turn, the South Korean presidential office announced by Park Soo-hyun, first secretary of people's communication, that Pyongyang, Yang and Seoul reopened direct cross-border communication between them today.
The DPRK announced in June of last year to cut all political and military lines of communication with South Korea against the backdrop of the latter's hostile behavior and its failure to stop broadcasting anti-spreaders across the border.
